Adopt a American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

A volunteer writes: Ansel would love to find his Gretel and if not...a caring and loving new owner to spend his life with, safe and loved...for ever. Ansel is welcoming in his kennel and is leashed easily. He walks nicely, does his business with some marking, comes when called and sits on command. He is happy to be caressed. He was not at first a fan of my treats, but thought better a moment later. He sniffs a lot his new premises, the yard, trying to make sense of all the scents left by his care center''s mates. Although of a good weight, Ansel is quite itchy, hoping for a soon relief of a dermatitis affecting his whole body. Even uncomfortable, he has it in him to briefly run after the ball, catch it, but does not retrieve. I bet he will, once he feels better. Ansel''s skin condition took some time to `get there` and will need some more time to get back to normal, leaving Ansel with a beautiful and healthy coat. Ansel seems like a very nice dog who deserves a new lease on life. Will you be the one opening your door and your heart to this gentle dog?

Another volunteer writes: When staff touches their heart while talking about a dog, you know he or she is loved. It''s impossible to not fall in love with this sweet dog. He must be so uncomfortable as his skin is cracked and much of his fur is missing. And yet, Ansel wags his tail in welcome to all, is thrilled to be leashed for a walk and a chance to potty, and is soft and polite when meeting males and females in playgroup. I saw Ansel going for his behavior assessment and knew he would rock it, and he did! He''s social, loves attention but isn''t pushy, he''s an absolute gem. As Ansel walks over to the fence, after enjoying some treats and petting, he sashays softly like he''s the most easy going, most gorgeous, most fabulous dog on the planet. And he is! He''s waiting to meet his new person to help him match his beauty on the inside to beauty on the outside. He so deserves it.
